Sonar Drilling and Geological Research Center was established in 1977 by Geological Engineer Mr. Muzaffer CEVIK, in order to work on "Engineering Geology" and "Drilling" fields.

In the 32 years of working period, many geotechnical investigations of buildings, tunnels, bridges, highway and railway lines, power plants and water structures have been done.

In 1984, "Injection Department" Sonar Drilling and Geological Research Center which began order to work on the improvement of the soils where the dams, tunnels and buildings must be constructed on soils with the poor load bearing capacity and also to overcome the water leakage problem on the construction stages of any subsoil structures.

In 1985, "Water Well Department" started to work and served in a number of hydro-geological investigations and deep water well constructions.

In 1993, SONAR determined his target as to work on "Solis and Ground Engineering" branch of main profession of work. For this purpose "Minipiles and Anchorages" and "Piles and Anchorages" for retaining systems and deep excavations were added in SONAR's working fields.

SONAR added "Jet Grouting Equipments" in 1999 and "Diaphragm Wall Equipments" in 2001, to its machine park. SONAR has intended to give the best engineering service with a qualified construction approach by following the technological developments and with help of consultancy taken from SONAR Drilling and Geotechnical Applications Co. Ltd., founded in 2000.

SONAR, which was reorganized to combine its office and workshop units in the same residential area in its new facilities in 2003, has begun its abroad activities at KAZAKHSTAN, GEORGIA in 2005 and at SAUDI ARABIA in 2008.

SONAR thinks that the success and the reliability in the construction industry can be achieved by producing the most economical, healthy, practical and long time valid solutions to the engineering problems in the feasible shortest time. SONAR thinks that criterion for success is that planned construction works are to be completed on intended time and with the pre-defined prices and also the work concept of the firm, the knowledge based experience, human power and machine park are all affecting the success in this field.
